About Scholar.DIY
Our Mission
Scholar.DIY empowers scholars to transform their work into powerful digital stories–rebuilding public trust, strengthening media literacy, and making knowledge truly accessible.
Our Brand Promise
We help scholars humanize their expertise, connect with wider audiences, and build sustainable futures through digital platforms and storytelling.
The Problem We Solve
In 2024, Gallup reported that only 36% of Americans trust higher education institutions.
Adjunct and freelance positions are replacing tenure-track jobs and full-time staff positions, limiting scholarly output and employment.
The rise of misinformation requires direct engagement between experts and the public.
Our Vision
A decentralized, scholar-driven knowledge ecosystem where experts build trust and influence by engaging directly with public audiences.
Our Commitment as a Public Benefit Company
Scholar.DIY is a Public Benefit LLC (PBLLC). This means we’re legally committed to advancing the public good—specifically by helping scholars reach public audiences through digital storytelling. We prioritize social impact alongside financial sustainability, ensuring that every decision we make helps scholars and serves society.

Meet Our Founder
Scholar.DIY was founded by Liz Covart, a historian and digital content creator with over a decade of experience translating scholarly research for public audiences.
Liz holds a Ph.D. in history—her research focuses on the cultural and political history of the American Revolution— and she is the creator and host of the award-winning podcast Ben Franklin's World.
For over 10 years, Liz has helped more than 400 scholars share their work with the public, resulting in over 13 million downloads and wide acclaim.
Like the scholars Scholar.DIY serves, Liz has faced the challenge of making academic knowledge resonate beyond scholarly walls. Her success proves it’s not only possible—it’s powerful.
